We’re Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), and we’re a suicide prevention charity. We host a helpline for people affected by suicide, as well as vital online resources for anyone who needs them.

Story

About two years ago I noticed my hair was thinning, at the time I was pretty devastated... I soon realised how stupid it was to get annoyed about it as there are so many children and young adults who lose all their hair to due health complications completely out of their control. Not only undergoing the stress of their illness but the mental impact it has on them too.

I couldn't get annoyed about from then on and I had seen on TV the amazing work Little Princess Trust has done to help children who have lost their hair and knew that in growing mine could help a deserving princess!

Doing a bit of research into how my hair would be used surprised me a little... It would only form 1/10 of a wig!

Although helping an amazing cause it would be great if awareness from donating my hair was able to inspire another 9 people to pledge at least 7-12 inches of hair too! - How awesome would it be to get a whole wigs worth of hair donated?! 🤔

SO get involved if you are inspired and please reach out to me 👍

Why are you fundraising for CALM Karl?

I'm glad you asked, although slightly confusing with two charities benefitting from one 'event' - I think they have strong links that both contrast and reflect issues that these causes are fighting against.

1. The mental health impact of losing hair due to illness

2. How stress, anxiety, depression can also lead to hair loss

3. The hair-head connection

Also numbers, names and those close to you speak high volumes...

84 MEN IN THE UK TAKE THEIR OWN LIVES EVERY WEEK!

NEARLY 4.5k EVERY SINGLE YEAR!

Between Christmas and New Year 2016 one of those was my best mates brother. My Idol (cousin) took his own life when I was 13. Even names you recognise...

Robin Williams, Avicii, Verne Troyer, Gary Speed, Marilyn Monroe, Chester Bennington, Alexander McQueen... To name a few!

We've all had struggles and mental battles in life because of things that have happened, in most causes not due to our own faults.

Point is... THERE IS HELP! and you never know when your colleagues, friends, family... or YOU will need it!

Donating as little as £7 can help save a life!

I'm planning to get it all chopped during Mental Health Awareness week on Friday 18th May - Please give what you can and help me reach a target of £500.

Much love, Karlos x
