Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In next 4 weeks (7th May - 3rd Jun) I take on the challenge to virtually conquer as many Munros as possible to fundraise for Marie Curie. I will attach the trailer to my bike, with 2 kids inside the trailer, as nursery does not want them at the moment, and take the bike outside to cycle as high as I can. Probably not that high with the 2 kids and the trailer, so I will jump on my turbo-trainer as well, all to raise money for Marie Curie.

Over the next 4 weeks on our solitary local cycles and runs, the
collective Photonic Solutions’ team incline achieved will be calculated and presented in the numbers of Munros we virtually climb. We will start conquering each summit from sea level and climb to the official highest point. We will stay high and won’t be calculating the descent from the summits. This is virtual climbing, so we can do this
😊

We are an active bunch at Photonic Solutions and before Covid-19 put us into lockdown and this state of emergency, we had planned to take part in a raft of charity fundraising events, from marathons to sportive cycling events. Sadly, these have been cancelled and, with that, the opportunity to fundraise for our chosen charities. Charities rely on generous donations to ensure they can provide the support to those living through terminal illness. We were also all very conscious that we had lost the focus and incentive needed to keep training. Exercise is positive, not only for physical health, but also for our mental well-being and whilst we are living through these uncertain times, remaining mentally positive is really important.

Munro-Bagging is a well know Scottish challenge, for those who choose to accept it, to conquer all listed Scotland's Munros. A Munro is a mountain in Scotland with a height over 3,000ft (914.4m). Munros are named after Sir Hugh T Munro, who surveyed and catalogued them in 1891. Munro Bagging is a fantastic way to explore some of Scotland's finest scenery in the great spirit of adventure. There is 282 Munros officially listed by Scottish Mountaineering Club and usually take years to complete. We will see how many we manage to put in our ‘Bag’.
