MUFG London to Torquay Cycle Ride · 24 September 2021
If you know me, you'll probably know that I like my running and cycling.
During 2016, taking up more sport has helped me get out of mental turmoil; as well as to maintain a healthy work-life balance and begin a healthier life style. With this in mind, I very much appreciate the benefits sport and cycling in particular can bring. I just wish I did so sooner!
About this Event:
I after taking up cycling to work in 2018, I have enjoyed cycling much longer distanced more often during the lockdown.
In July, I attempted the Coast to Coast or Chase the Sun ride from the Isle of Sheppy in Kent to Burnham-on-Sea south of Bristol. This ride unfortunately ended with a mechanical failure in South East London.
I have decided to donate the minimum donation amount for this event to make sure that anyone I ask to support me by donating or pledging to donate does not feel that they are subsidizing my hobbies. :)
The event I am participating in is 210miles from Windsor to Torquay.
If things go well I am then planning to cycle another 240 miles back to my house in South-East London.
I feel confident about reaching Torquay with all my colleagues over three days. Extending this to five days and 450 miles could prove to be a significant challenge for my cycling prowess...
Feel free to donate or pledge to donate a fixed amount for completing the ride to Windsor or back home.
Don't know how much you should donate? See below to make this more fun for the both of us:
If you want to make sure I don't give up half way, you can also challenge me by pledging to donate for every mile from either Windsor or Torquay. Here 10p per mile would equate £24 or £45 all the way from Windsor.
Make things more interesting:
If you think I should donate more money myself, you can also challenge me to donate 10p per mile that I do not cycle back home, however you will need to pledge to donate an equal or greater amount per mile yourself. I will set aside £200 of my money for these pledges.
Think you have a better proposal? Get in touch.
Perhaps something around how many punctures or spare parts I run into the ground?
Regardless of donation, feel free to subscribe to track my progress, by sending me your email. (The email will be from Garmin LiveTrack.)
