Story

Welcome and Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have completed two fantastic cycle challenges in support of Women v Cancer and am ready to do it all over again! My first adventure was cycling 350km in 5 days across Tanzania, Africa in 2015 with my then 16 year old daughter Hollie - who was amazing. This was a life changing experience for us both and inspired me to persuade two great friends to join me on my second 350km cycle challenge in 2017 across the beautiful Bazilian coastline of Salvador. Both events meant we raised much needed funds and awareness for women's cancer. I am proud of our achievement and am now ready to do it all again and will be cycling the Nile, Egypt in March 2023 this will be to support the work of three charities: Breast Cancer Care, Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust and Ovarian Cancer Action.

So WHY am I doing this?

I am doing this in memory of my beautiful and inspirational Mum, who sadly passed away from Ovarian Cancer at the tender age of 60 in 2008 and to raise awareness of cancer in general.

Every year 55,000 women and men are diagnosed with breast cancer, nearly 3 women die every day from cervical cancer and 12 from ovarian cancer - the biggest gynecological killer of women in the UK - this included my Mum! I will help raise awareness and funds for research into improving women's chances of survival and will be supporting three brilliant charities - have a look at the links to see what they do:

www.ovarian.org.uk ,  www.breastcancercare.org.uk & www.jostrust.org.uk

WHAT do I need to do?  I will be self funding this experience myself, but I want to raise as much money through donations as possible and maximise this opportunity to support the three charities I mentioned above. I have created this page to help me engage and encourage my family and friends to donate as little or as much as possible - all your contributions are greatly appreciated and will go directly to these three charities.

So, what I need to do is get on my bike and get in shape to take on this challenge - 350km ( 220 miles) over 6 days. Egypt has always been a country I have wanted to explore and what a way to do this - cycling through the extraordinary ruins of Memphis, the ancient capital of Inebu-hedj, the seat of power of the Old Kingdom of Egypt for eight dynasties and home to the pharaohs who raised the pyramids that Egypt is famous for. I will be cycling around 40-50 miles a day (OMG) through busy streets, across beautiful landscapes and encountering the famous landmarks that Egypt is known for, following the river Nile meeting locals and experiencing Egyptian village/city life starting and ending in Cairo. An unbelievable adventure!

Thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page - I will keep you posted with my training antics and Egyptian adventure I will undertake in March 2023 thanks again!
