Karrina and Steph's 800km Camino de Santiago de Compostela

Camino de Santiago de Compostela · 29 August 2019
Thanks for visiting our Just Giving page and joining in on our international cross-country charity pilgrimage.
On the 29th August this year, my wife and I intend to embark on the Camino de Santiago de Compostela, walking the 800km trail over 30 days. The expedition will be unsupported, meaning we’ll be taking care of our own logistics, photography, communications, and carrying everything they will need for the month-long voyage.
The Camino trail - also called the ‘route of the stars’ because it lies beneath the Milky Way, takes pilgrims along the beautiful and peaceful countryside across the north of Spain. Starting in southern France at St. Jean-Pied-De-Port, the journey see’s pilgrims traversing the Pyrenees and continuing through the La Rioja region and along the rolling hills of northern Spain, before finishing in Santiago de Compostela, the burial place of St. James.
We are choosing to support VA because they deal directly with those in need, providing immediate, practical support to ex-servicemen and women in crisis. As veterans who are both still working in Afghanistan, we regularly see the effects of war and understand the importance of the veteran community- regardless of age, ethnicity, rank gender or length of service. Veterans Aid are a huge part of that, providing services to those that are most vulnerable. Whilst this is a personal challenge for each of us, we also wanted it to be about something more, which is why we are supporting Veterans Aid and making it a fundraiser for a charity that we both admire.
Veterans Aid has been admitted to membership of the World Veterans Federation, an association of 172 veterans’ organisations from 121 countries that represents around 45 million veterans worldwide.
We’ll each be contributing 25p for every kilometre walked, so all being well we hope to donate £400.00 ourselves towards
the cause. The target is £1500.00, so please support in any way
you can. Donating to Veterans Aid through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity.
