Bumblebees are in decline because of a loss of their habitats. Our landscape is changing, over 97% of the UK's grasslands have been lost in the past 70 years. We work to put much needed flowers back into the countryside to benefit our bumblebees and other wildlife.

Story

This May I am taking a #beeactive24 challenge to raise money for our adorable bumblebee friends. I have pledged to BEEACTIVE for 24 minutes a day! Who knows, I may also get a bit fitter;)

There are 24 different species of bumblebee in the UK, hence 24 minutes per day! (25 species if you include the Short-Haired Bumblebee the Trust is trying to re-introduce).

Sadly, our bumblebees are in decline due to habitat loss, and three species have been driven to extinction in the UK since 1940.

If you would like to find out more about our bumblebees and other pollinators, and how to help them out in your own backyard, join me for a monthly BeeWalk at PLANT’s Tayport Community Garden. Find the next date under Events on our website here: https://tayportgarden.org/
