5k Swimathon 2020

Swimathon 2020 · 27 March 2020 to 31 December 2020 ·
On Saturday 28th March I've decided to swim 200 lengths to raise money for Marie Curie and Cancer Research UK. This is the furthest I will ever have swum within this time - no pressure then ;)
The past couple of years have been quite challenging in my little world, so I decided to start the new year focusing on things I can do. Positive actions I can undertake and help to make a difference to others lives now and in the future.
I've lost loved ones to cancer, I know others currently living with cancer, taking each day as it comes, hopeful that in the future there will be even more effective treatments or even a cure.
Having worked in a hospice I can personally vouch for how vitally important it is to have palliative care services available to support those dying, along with their family, at the time where they need this support the most. This support is essential for all those involved.
If me getting in a pool and bashing out some lengths and you making a small donation along the way can in some way help others - then let's do this.
About the Swimathon
On the 27th - 29th March, over 21,000 swimmers will be heading down to over 600 pools across the UK to raise money for our two amazing charity partners.
Cancer Research UK, the world’s leading cancer charity is dedicated to saving lives through funding research to help prevent, diagnose and treat cancer. Cancer Research UK are the only charity fighting over 200 cancer types but don't receive any government funding for their work, so their progress is all thanks to the support of people like you.
Marie Curie provides expert care, guidance and support for people living with any terminal illness, and their families. Around 2,100 Marie Curie Nurses work day and night, in people’s homes all over the UK, providing hands-on care to people when they need it most.
Together we can really make a difference. We invite our swimmers to tell their story to help spread awareness and raise vital funds for these two incredible causes.
Charities pay a small fee for our service. Learn more about fees
