Many of you know that our mum was in hospital for 5 months due to a very dangerous infection she got from having her hip replacement. This infection travelled to her other hip which meant both had to be removed and temporary hips put in. These hips will remain there until the infection has fully gone and then the new replacements will take place one at a time. 

The orthopaedic ward in Tunbridge-Wells at Pembury Hospital have been amazing and this includes everyone who has been involved from day one. The surgeons who have rattled their brains with mum having such a rare case. They have completed 4 operations on mum 2 of which were major operations taking a very long time to carry out. The nurses who work day and night making sure every patient is ok and have what they need, doing those little things for you that in day to day life we all take for granted. The physiotherapy team who have worked with mum helping her try to be a little bit mobile even though she has temporary hips.

This has been such a difficult time for us as a family and even though she is now home, our mum has such a long way to go still. She remains an inspiration to us all and we know she will come out of this fit and fighting even more so than before this happened. All of our friends and family have been amazing, helping and supporting us when needed. 

Nikki and I ran Tunbridge-Wells half marathon on the 17th of February and  are running the Brighton marathon on the 14th of April. This was our 2nd half marathon but Brighton will be our first full marathon. 

Ali is running her first half marathon in April which is Paddock Wood. 

We hope to be able to raise as much money as possible and this will all be donated directly to the orthopaedic ward that are helping our mum get better as quickly as possible. Any donations made will be very much appreciated by us all. ❤️
