Story

I'm running my 4th marathon! This Sunday! Without even leaving home! And you guys could win some awesome prizes by supporting me!

With the original date of the London Marathon coming up this weekend, thousands of runners and hundreds of charities are feeling a sense of disappointment- fundraising has slowed and at the same time, many of these charities are seeing a surge in demand- one of these being the Good Samaritans, who have seen an enormous increase in phone calls and people needing support since the covid-19 pandemic struck.

This outbreak is affecting people in so many ways, including many of those struggling to cope mentally with the extreme changes and potential distress we are facing at the moment. I for one have found it so hard to cope with what is happening around the world - it's something none of us would have ever dreamed would happen in our lifetime- and to try and find a new sense of norm is hard. The Samaritans can help those who are struggling with phone calls, texts and many other ways to ensure those who are finding it hard to cope get the support they need.

So, my way of trying to help? Run a marathon of course!! To stay in keeping with social distancing measures, I'll be running the full 26.2 miles on my treadmill at home!

I've also been donated some amazing prizes to give to one lucky supporter - a selection of goodies from the incredible artist, runner and all round amazing human bean Angela Chic as well as the awesome people at Spibelt who are donating a large pocket spibelt!! I will put all the names of all of you who have donated to my Just Giving page in a hat and will draw a winner a week after my run - so if you want to be in with a chance, make sure you put your name and details when you donate! Anonymous donors sadly won't be able to be put in the prize draw.

Thank you so much for reading this far!! I'll be doing plenty of updates this sunday during my run on my Instagram @kat.runs.for.mental.health, so keep an eye out

Kat x

Save the UK's CharitiesGeneral fundraising has been hit very hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Thousands of fundraising events have been cancelled and many charities, particularly smaller ones, are struggling to maintain services because of this huge reduction in income. This impacts all sectors of society from children to the elderly as well as the vital work in areas such as palliative care, serious diseases, mental health, housing support, food supplies and countless others that charities support.
