Beat is the UK’s eating disorder charity. Our mission is to end the pain and suffering caused by eating disorders. These serious mental illnesses ruin and, too often, take lives. Our Helpline is available online or by phone for anyone suffering, as well as their family and friends.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page for my three cities cycle challenge through London, Amsterdam and Brussels - a total of 338 miles in 4 days!

I have battled with anorexia since the age of 8, when my relationship with food became anything but 'normal'. However, after two lengthy hospital admissions and being pushed to breaking point, I am finally travelling further along my very own 'recovery road' than many may have thought possible - and my goodness is it worth it! 1.6 million people in the UK alone suffer from an eating disorder; anorexia has the highest death rate of any psychiatric disorder. Beat works tirelessly to break the stigma so often attached to eating disorders, raise awareness and provide life saving support to sufferers, whilst helping all those impacted upon by the ripple effects of an eating disorder.

I am fundraising to help show that eating disorders can be beaten, to give something back to the services to which I owe so much for still being here today and to break the stigma attached to eating disorders, and all mental illnesses.
