Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As many of you know my mum passed away at the end of 2017, leaving a huge gap in our families' lives.
My friend Gemma Suttle and I will be hiking the Inca Trail to reach Machu Picchu from 5 - 15 April. I am raising funds for a local charity which helps prevent any deaths or suffering from diseases of the chest, heart or through stroke in memory of mum.
[ Note: I don't think there are charities which help with what my mum's life (rather than her departure from it) stood for - love, fun, creativity, adventure, inquisitive mind, generosity, family and an almost fanatical devotion to antiques and bargain hunting.]
Trekking on Inca-paved paths and steps, our route will take us up through cloudforest to the demanding Dead Woman’s Pass (4200m). Continually climbing up or dropping down, our way will be steep at times, and the altitude adds to the challenge.
Machu Picchu is one of the most iconic sights in South America, and arriving at the Sun gate will be the culmination of our Inca Trail trek through the Peruvian Andes. Join us through our updates as we trek this breathtakingly beautiful route through valleys and high passes, scattered with fascinating Inca ruins.
In the meantime, to help others hold on to their family members just a little longer why don't you give a little to help a lot?
It’s true that lots of small donations all add up for smaller charities so £2, £5, £10 all counts. Thanks and I promise not to be a Peru bore when we return....
