Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In December last year my brilliant and amazing friend Luce was given the news no one wants or expects to receive... Lucy explains why these events are so important so I decided to literally copy and paste her words as she is the reason I am running:

"I was totally shocked to be diagnosed with Breast Cancer on 18th December 2013.  I'm too young for a start and I have always been fit and healthy. I still don’t’ think it has truly sunk in and I very rarely say the 'C' word unless I have to.  My operation was delayed as my first MRI showed an area of concern on my other breast. After ultrasound scans, MRI scans, biopsies, more MRI scans and an MRI guided biopsy in London, it was discovered that the right side was ok.  My operation was on 11th February 2014.  I had a mastectomy (my choice) and had to have my lymph nodes removed as the disease had already spread.  I have pretty much recovered from my operation and am about to tackle my biggest hurdle yet.  I begin Chemotherapy on 27th March and will still be receiving treatment when I aim to RUN the Race for Life.  I will do my best, but at the moment I don’t know how I will feel? I will complete the 5K though, even if I have to walk. I have so so many amazing friends and family members, who are joining together to race with me.  I think, wearing matching T-shirts and tutus.  When I first found out, I didn't want anyone to know, but now I know that people want to help and I hope that it will make people check for signs.  Thank goodness I found my lump early, so please check regularly? And please dig deep and donate to such a good cause?"
