Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

So after the last 2 years of completing the 2 mile and 5k at Lake Windermere, I've finally reached my all time goal of entering the 10k swim!

In the world of open water, this is the marathon event. The big one. 400 lengths of a swimming pool in distance and less than 4 hours max to complete it in. This swim is going to need some serious training!

But it will all be worth it raising money for the amazing charity Parkinson's UK.

This swim was originally in support of my Grandfather who suffered with Parkinson’s, but unfortunately (due to other health issues) passed away in April. So this swim is now in rememberance of him.

He was diagnosed with the disease about 5/6 years ago, and I saw day to day the effect it had on his life. It can be overwhelming and quite upsetting at times because of how much it takes over the body. Parkinson's UK gave the best support and information to help everyone feel in control of a life with Parkinson's.

My target has changed numerous times for this swim and I’m overwhelmed with how much people have donated. Grandpa really would be so proud :)

So lets carry on raising as much money as we can for something really really worth while - every penny counts!

Just keep swimming! 🐠🐟
