Story

Hi Everyone!

Sophie and I are raising funds for The Switch which provides financial education to disadvantaged young people in London. The charity’s motto is “learn more, do more, become more”.

I recently volunteered with the charity to deliver workshops on budgeting, taxes, investments, business and banking. At the end of the 12-month course, students put their skills into practice and created their own mini companies, in which they created and sold their products at their schools, and presented their business plans at 22 Bishopgate in London to a panel of business leaders (Dragons’ Den style!). It was fantastic to see the students confidence and business acumen develop over the time I worked with them.

Currently, the UK primary/secondary curriculum doesn’t cover a whole lot to do with finance so I think it’s a brilliant programme to give students a head start in making smart financial decisions and bridging the gap between school and the world of work.

Owing to the success of the trial programme, we had schools from across the UK asking for the programme to be taught to their students. The money I raise will go directly to support the expansion of the programme.

Thanks so much for your support!
