Ambers Charity Golf Auction

Charity Golf Auction · 1 May 2020
Just4Children are fundraising for a pioneering surgical technique called VBT (Vertebral Body Tethering) to treat 13 year old Amber for severe scoliosis. Amber has a double curvature of the spine and surgery is inevitable. As she grows VBT helps to continue to correct the curve in her spine so the sooner she has surgery the higher the chances it will work as she continues to grow.
Full fusion is the only spinal surgery offered here in the UK ,at present, on the NHS, where they fuse the vertebrae together into one inflexible bone. Fusion has been the go-to for decades it straightens the spine but restricts motion and growth. Something Amber hated the thought of.
VBT allows growth, allows motion and corrects the deformity without it having to be fused. It is not suitable for every scoliosis patient only those that have growth modulation and are flexible with curves over 40 degrees. Amber fits the criteria and we want to give her the best opportunity in life we can give her.
We are doing a Charity Golf Auction which will go towards the cost of Amber's spinal surgery in Germany which is on June 4th.
