Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!

In this present climate of fear, disconnection, incomplete, stereotypical and misinformed narratives in popular culture and the media, it is imperative that we endeavour to create social atmospheres where we are safe to ask questions, have our world views challenged, and listen to the stories of others.

When we listen to others we learn that we have more in common than we are fundamentally different. This is certainly what I have learned through listening to the faith stories of others and through my volunteering with Three Faiths Forum (3FF). 3FF seeks to create environments in various arenas of social life where people can dialogue, be heard, be honoured, and make bonds with others from different faith and cultural backgrounds.

I have been volunteering with 3FF to share my faith journey to adolescents within the classroom setting. I have felt deeply moved, honoured, and inspired by this opportunity and experience. Our children are asking questions. 3FF seeks to make safe spaces for these honest, challenging, and raw questions posed by our young people.

Listening to stories of others who identify as practicing a different faith from mine highlights how journeys in faith have the same themes of disillusionment, uncertainty, revelation, seeking, longing, a hunger for internal peace and a connection for the divine or transcendent. The children get to see this harmony and the respect the speakers have for one another. I have witnessed this in the bright eyes of those young people peering back at me. That's what 3FF strives for.

Now about the running...I like to run. It is ME time. It is time that I get to feel strong, connect with my powerful body, and feel connected with the earth. I have not yet done a half marathon as of yet, but only a 10k. I am working my way up to a full marathon one day! Organized Running Events are fun, a great challenge and is imbued with beautiful camaraderie, encouragement, positivity and inspiration!

So with that, please, if you feel moved to, support this challenge and follow 3FF and my progress!

Gratefully and Lovingly,

Kate Pollock
