Kate's Paris Half Marathon 2015

Paris Half Marathon 2015 · 8 March 2015 ·
Welcome, and thanks for taking the time to visit!
As many of you know my dear dad, David, passed away last November after (in his own words) a 5 year 'dance' with the big C. Originally diagnosed with throat cancer in 2010 Dad went in to remission only to be diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2013.
Dad was a stubborn ox and did a fantastic job of giving us as much quality time as he could. He danced elegantly and considerately with Cancer exceeding the doctors prognosis time and time again.
For those of you who never had the chance to know my father, he was a truly wonderful and loving man. A gentle giant; kind, considerate and generous with his time. Often going out of his way for others. Dad loved life and always had to be doing something. Despite his illness, he participated in many fundraising events for Marie Curie, including crewing two cycle races across America, where he lived out of an RV for a week. Please feel free to visit this site to learn a little more about the man http://www.davidslaymaker.com
In loving memory of Dad, I and a team of 14 friends are running the Paris Half Marathon on 8th March on behalf of Marie Curie Cancer Care. I have been completely overwhelmed by their support and willingness to train for this event. I don't think they know just how appreciative I am.
We are raising money not only for my dad but for Joe's father, Philip Savage, and Leah's sister, Jessica Cooper, and for everyone else whose lives have been touched by this cruel disease.
Dad was lucky enough to be cared for at the truly fantastic Royal Marsden. Any additional funds will be donated to RM to fund the innovative researcher they do.
