In October last year whilst watching some other members of Shinfield Running Club run the 2022 London Marathon I put myself into the ballot in a non-serious way, thinking it was so unlikely I would get a place (I should know, I work with statistics). Fast forward a few weeks and somehow I managed to get a ballot place!

I am hoping to use my marathon pain to raise some money for Jess' school to buy some new sports and PE equipment, which will not only benefit her and her friends, but children for many years to come. Physical activity is so important for both children and adults and out of school clubs can be very expensive for parents.  Schools are (as we know) hugely underfunded by the government so the money goes on the very basics. I would love for the school to be able to buy new equipment so all children have access to a greater variety of sports whilst in school, without an additional cost to parents in the community.

If you could please donate just a small amount of money, I would appreciate it so much!  It might make all the pain of training that bit easier to know I am running for a good cause.  

If you happen to be free on Sunday 23rd April and in the London area and fancy a trip to the marathon route then your support would also be VERY much appreciated.  I can't wait to soak up the atmosphere on the day, I am told it is almost unique to the London Marathon and the reason why I try and watch it on the tv every year wondering what it would be like there in person!
