We’re the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity. We’re determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer. Our vision is a future where nobody dies of the disease.

Story

As many of you know I was diagnosed with Bowel cancer in 2018 when I was 36.  Needless to say it was life changing and one of the hardest challenges of my life to date.  I was in the fortunate position that my cancer was caught relatively early and I was able to receive treatment that means I am currently free of cancer.  I can’t put into words how much Bowel Cancer UK supported me during and after my diagnosis, they are a small charity that only receive a small amount of funds so they have to work really hard to fund all the vital work they do!

They fund targeted research, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care. Their aim is to stop people dying of bowel cancer.

I am passionate about raising funds and awareness so that more people are diagnosed early and treated successfully.  I’ve had the honour of meeting some amazing people all affected by Bowel cancer and sadly many of them are far too young.  In 2019 sadly several young people died of Bowel cancer who I had the pleasure to know through social media and I had the chance to meet some of them in person.  Their deaths really affected me and I just don’t want other families to have to keep going through this.

In their memory I wish to raise as much as I can to support the work of Bowel Cancer UK,  so this stops happening.  I have taken on the challenge of cycling from london to Paris in September, in my life before cancer I had started to get into cycling even attempting my first triathlon but I’ve never done anything like this!

Over 5 days I will be cycling between 70-100 miles a day with some strenuous hill climbs, eventually finishing under the Eiffel Tower.  It’s going to be a test of endurance and will mean a lot of training in the saddle but it’s nothing compared to what people have to endure with cancer.

Your support means the world to me and really will make a difference.   Watch this space for some fundraising events to help me reach the target. Xxx
