After, a long and emotional 12 year roller coaster of a journey to become parents, we finally brought our son home in July 2012. This literally was a life changing moment and we couldn’t be prouder of Kman. He has brought so much joy to our lives and has made our family complete. 

Adoption is a way of providing the security, permanency and the love of a new family when it is not possible for a child to be raised by his/her birth parents or within the birth family. There are thousands of children in the UK currently waiting to be placed with foster carers or adoptive families. Barnardo’s aim to help as many of them as possible. Every child deserves a safe and loving home. 

As a Headteacher, I see first hand, children who need the most love asking for it in the most unloving of ways. This is a huge challenge for the child, the family and professionals involved. For more than twenty years Barnardo’s LINK has been providing therapeutic services to anyone affected by adoption.

In the words of Rita Pierson Every child deserves a champion – an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be. 

I have never run more than 13.1 miles and seriously dislike warm weather training ……! Safe to say, this will be  HUGE challenge for me.
