Update - I completed the walk despite the torrential rain in the north of England.  David and Peter were fantastic companions and we laughed all the way.  Walking in The Lakes was hard work in the rain, being wet and cold all the time but the weather improved as the days went on.  The Yorkshire Dales and North Yorkshire Moors were very beautiful and we had 'guest walkers' some of the days which added to the enjoyment.  Walking into Robin Hood's Bay to a welcome committee of family and friends was a moment I will treasure always - the excitement and sense of achievement was incredible.

I will be doing another walk next year - I am now converted to wearing a cagoule and walking the hills!!

Starting on 3rd September and finishing on 14th I will be attempting to walk from the west coast of England to the east coast with my two brothers-in-law, Peter and David Turvey.  We start at St Bees Head and finish at Robin Hood's Bay following the route detailed by Alfred Wainwright in his book 'A Coast to Coast Walk'.  It is 190 miles long and a massive challenge walking approximately 17 miles each day. 

I am a very new convert to walking and am really enjoying my time in the hills with fantastic views and peace and quiet (the photo was taken by me while walking in the Lake District). 

The Great North Air Ambulance is a life saving charity with helicopters covering the North of England.  You never know when you may need them either living in the remote parts of Northumberland or just passing through.  Thank you for supporting this worthy cause.
