Story
'The Rambling Potters' will be doing their 6th sponsored walk to raise funds for the Neuroendocrine Cancer UK (NCUK) on Sunday 6th November. Last year, we jumped out of a plane, so this years will be a lot more sedate!! We will be walking around Kynpersley Reservoir in Stoke-on-Trent, a bit shorter and easier than our previous walks, but it matches my abilities these days🥴
I am a Neuroendocrine Cancer (NET) patient diagnosed in June 2015, I turned 60 this year, and I strongly believe that I still have a full life to live, with plenty of new experiences and opportunities along the way.
My Neuroendocrine primary tumour in my small intestine, which has metastasised to my liver and peritoneum, as well as various lymph nodes. I cannot be cured, and I am currently classed as not being a candidate for surgery, but medication along with regular tests and scans help to keep it under control and manageable for most of the time.
The charity provides ongoing support and information for patients their families and friends, from diagnosis onwards. Working to enable access to the best care and treatment, whilst funding Neuroendocrine Cancer research, increasing national awareness and influencing improvements in outcomes.
Through their support I have met many new and lovely people in the same situation as me in the UK and abroad. So this walk is a way of giving something back. In August 2019 I also became a volunteer Ambassador for the charity.
