Story

I got a letter yesterday from my GP. It offered a referral to a team which supports with positive lifestyle changes to maximise wellbeing and prevent risk of relapse, and I'm entitled to this because my mental health is stable and has been for some time.

This is because I recieved the right support at the right time. Its because I have a high level of protective factors in place, a loving family, friends, colleagues and a community and city I feel connected to and part of. I can comfortably afford to live. I live in a beautiful area full of opportunities to explore my own wellbeing. I work for an organisation that prioritises health and wellbeing. I'm really lucky.

Everyone deserves this chance of recovery and stability and many individuals in Lancashire do not have the privelages I am blessed with.

Lancashire Mind believe that there should be no barriers to people achieving good mental health and wellbeing and they are working to break boundaries and lead a mental wellbeing revolution. Many of the team have lived in experience of mental health conditions and/or have seen the impact poor mental health and wellbeing has had on loved ones.

To mark this year's mental health awareness week (18th-25th May) Lancashire Mind are launching their biggest fundraising challenge yet. Between 30th May and 13th June a group of us are collaboratively aiming to complete the equivalent of the palatine of Lancashire's Boundaries, a total of 417 miles, running, walking and cycling.

Please donate what you are able or share my page, please look at the work that Lancashire Mind does within the communities that you live in. It might be your neighbour that needs this support, or a friend, or that person you always see when walking the dog. Mental wellbeing affects everyone, and it's everyone's responsibility.
