Please join me in supporting the North West Air Ambulance (NWAA) as they tirelessly operate 365 days a year, braving all weather conditions to save lives. This year alone, they have responded to an astounding 1642 incidents, with road traffic collisions being the most common. The NWAA's fleet of small helicopters enables them to reach Merseyside and Manchester in just 10 minutes, and cover the majority of the North West within 25 minutes, even in challenging locations.

In 2021, the NWAA achieved a significant milestone by performing their first-ever blood transfusion. The following year, they swiftly responded to 2800 incidents across the North West, averaging three call-outs per day. Now, in 2023/24, the NWAA aims to expand their services further. They plan to recruit five new paramedics, equip their helicopters with blood supplies, increase their drug inventory, and extend their flight hours to reach more people in need.

As an entirely charity-funded organisation, the NWAA heavily relies on generous donations. Currently, 50% of their funds are generated through the Lift Off Lotto. With each life-saving flight costing nearly £3000, they require a staggering £12 million annually to continue their vital work. 

Even the smallest contribution can make a significant impact. Just £9 can fund one minute of a NWAA mission, while £17 can provide a 1-litre potable oxygen canister, ensuring patients have access to life-sustaining oxygen during critical moments. A donation of £100 can purchase a surgical airway kit, a crucial tool in life-threatening situations like airway obstruction or facial trauma.

The North West Air Ambulance Charitys helicopters and HEMS response vehicles operate 365 days a year, with highly skilled specialist doctors and HEMS paramedics on board providing enhanced pre-hospital care and hospital transfers to patients across the entire North West region each year an area covering 5,500 square miles and over 8 million people. Since it launched in 1999, the charity has been called to over 24,500 missions across the region, with the service called out an average of three times a day.
