In 2009 my Mum was diagnosed with a massive brain tumour. She required urgent surgery to remove the tumour which she had 3 weeks after her diagnosis. They told us she had a 50/50 chance of survival among other various complications that could have arose. During the operation they managed to remove 95% of the tumour but due to the positioning of the tumour they had to leave 5% behind. After pulling through the operation, she had a long, difficult road to recovery which was physically and emotionally draining for her. She had to relearn how to do everything again. She has always been an extremely active person so this illness took a huge toll on her mental health also. Since then she has tried to live her life with the side effects of her tumour. Unfortunately this has affected her life massively. She has lost most of her hearing and she now wears hearing aids the majority of the time, amongst other changes to her life. She is still to this day living with a brain tumour. I am hoping to raise awareness for the charity aswell as money to help fund research to progress the treatment and cures for brain tumours. Myself and a whole team of amazing people are doing various activities and events to raise money for this amazing cause.
