Amsterdam Marathon · 16 October 2011
In just less than 2 weeks (eek) myself and Dan will be running (or in my case running and walking!) the Amsterdam Marathon.
We would like to take the opportunity to raise some money for a great charity called Chain of Hope. Set up and under the Presidency of Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub (one of the first surgeons to perform heart transplants in the UK) Chain of Hope 'exists to provide children suffering from life-threatening heart disease with the corrective surgery and treatment to which they do not have access'.
'The charity has been helping provide this treatment since 1995 and provides care in two distinct ways:
1) Bringing children to the UK and Europe for open and closed heart operations
2) Mobilising volunteer medical teams into developing countries to treat children, whilst stimulating the development of cardiac services for local populations.
Chain of Hope provides teaching and training programmes while developing local infrastructure in countries such as Mozambique, Egypt, Jamaica and Ethiopia. With the guidance of the charity’s Medical Board, Chain of Hope has been saving lives for almost 15 years.'
Thank you so much for your time and generosity, it will definitely help to get us round the course!
