Great North Run 2021 · 12 September 2021 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
You may be surprised to learn I'm a runner. That's because I'm really not! I didn't think I could even run 5k until my big brother, Phil, encouraged me to 'just keep going' on a short Christmas jog in 2017. But that was typical of Phil - a huge inspiration in my life - he was super positive, full of beans, and had the ability to make everything seem like an adventure.
In 2019, Phil and his lovely wife signed up to do the 2020 Great North Run. Tragically he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer on NYE 2019, and died a month later. He was an RAF pilot, Wing Commander, and Officer Commanding 51 Squadron; a career he loved and excelled at. He had no idea when signing up to run on behalf of the RAF Benevolent Fund that his own family would benefit from their support less than a year later.
So I'm running in Phil's place, in memory of him, and to support the cause he chose to support. I'd be extremely grateful for any support as I run / walk / crawl the 21k to the finish line...
