So back in January, I entered the ballot for the Great North Run not thinking I would ever get chosen. However, in February I received the email congratulating me on being successful in entering the half marathon. And so here we are, 8 weeks to go and I am about to undertake my biggest challenge. I have completed 10k’s but they are nothing compared to the 21km I will run between Newcastle and South Shields on the 11^th September.

I am extremely daunted by the 21km that lie ahead but I don’t just want to run for me I want to run to help raise money. I have chosen to run
and raise money for The Mary Stevens Hospice in Stourbridge. The work of the hospice is very close to me and my family. Sadly in April 2013 my dear Nan passed away. She spent her last few days under the wonderful care of the staff and volunteers at the Mary Stevens Hospice. They provided a homely environment for my family and offered the care and support we all needed. I am raising money so they can continue their care and support for other families. 

Mary Stevens Hospice provides specialist holistic care free of charge for adults with life-limiting illnesses and their families in the Dudley Borough. More than 80% of the £2.5m annual costs are paid for by
donations and funds raised by supporters from a compassionate, local community. Alongside the £2.5m the hospice need each year to run, they have launched an appeal to help fundraise to raise £3 million for refurbishment of the Day Services Unit, which will see an increase in the number of people we help by more than 3,500.

I would appreciate any donation for a wonderful charity, and
in return I will spend the next 8 weeks training my hardest and completing this
challenge.
