Katherine Schofield is raising money for Shelter

A home is a human right. Yet, every day millions of people are being devastated by the housing emergency. Our amazing team of Royal Parks Half runners are joining the fight to defend the right to a safe home. Because home is everything.

Story

I'm running the Royal Parks Half Marathon on 11 October for Shelter, to help raise money to support the homeless and precariously housed. While I love running, I've never run more than 10k before, and I'm very slow, especially when I run with my whippet Wallace! But the issue of homelessness is one that is very close to my heart.

So here we are.

Because everyone should have a safe place to call home, and yet there are nearly 120,000 children living in temporary accommodation in England, with a household becoming homeless every 4 minutes. This is an outrage. As a proud member of #TeamShelter, every pound I raise with your support will help defend the right to a safe home.

Shelter believes that home is everything, and so do I.

You can follow my progress as I train either here, or on Strava, Bluesky, and Instagram!

Please support my slightly mad escapade on behalf of those who have no safe place to lay their heads.
