Story
This year I've turned 50 and running doesn't seem to get much easier! For those of you who don't know I was diagnosed with Ménière’s disease in 2007. I'm relatively lucky - I'm only affected in one ear and so far it hasn't progressed to the other one. The Norfolk & Norwich Hospital ENT department have been brilliant and provided treatment which has enabled me to live without debilitating vertigo since 2010.
The condition, for which there is no cure, affects people differently; it can range in severity from being a nuisance to a lifelong disability. Dizziness, imbalance, vertigo, tinnitus, ear pressure, brain fog, hearing loss are all part of this horrible condition. For most sufferers it saps your confidence and energy, and stops you living your life how you want to.
So why this run? It's not very local but my thinking is that if I'm going to do just one 10k I might as well make it a big one. Although I've been a member of the Ménière’s Society since being diagnosed I haven't yet done any fund raising for them. They are a small charity but they are a godsend to people like me who, when newly diagnosed, don't know where to start or what's going on. They provide support and advice and they also fund research, of which there needs to be more.
Thank you if you can sponsor me in this challenge, no matter what the amount. xx
