At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

This year i'm pushing myself out of my comfort zone and attempting to complete my first marathon. Not just any marathon, but the Lakeland Trails marathon in July.

I was also lucky enough to get a place in the Great North Run through the pre- ballot ballot and so will be taking part in this epic event for the second year in a row.

I will be doing these events in memory of my much loved, and greatly missed, dad who sadly died on the 29th December 2012.

I've chosen to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society as I hope that one day a cure will be found for this truly awful disease. After dad's diagnosis in January 2010, my family followed a heartbreaking journey until dad lost his fight. I hope that, one day soon, other families can be spared from the pain and distress that we experienced.
