Kathleen's Fundraiser for the Debbie Fund

London Marathon 2022 · 2 October 2022 ·
On 2nd October this year I am taking on the exciting (and daunting) challenge of running the London Marathon in aid of the Debbie Fund. The cause is very close to my heart as the Debbie Fund was set up in memory of my fiancé's mum, Debbie Phillips, who died of cervical cancer at the age of 48 following years of misread smear tests, and who I sadly never got the privilege of meeting.
Cervical cancer is the fourth most common female cancer worldwide and the most common cancer for women ages 15-34, with around half a million new cases and a quarter of a million deaths per year. The Debbie Fund is the only organisation devoted solely to the discovery of new treatments for cervical cancer. It is based in the UCL Cancer Institute, and established the world's first dedicated research programme into treatments for cervical cancer, with every pound raised funding this research.
Any donations you can make, however big or small, will be massively appreciated by the charity as the Debbie Fund is close to completing its research. If there are any funds left over, these will be used for other amazing cancer research projects within UCL.
Thank you very much for your support!
