We exist to defend the right to a safe home and fight the devastating impact the housing emergency has on people and society. We believe that home is everything.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm running the LLHM on 3rd April for Shelter. Most of my running is done from my home, and back to my home at the end. Whether it's a 5k or a (very rare) half marathon distance, I know that I have a safe, secure and decent home to return to after running. I can get a hot shower, a cup of tea, sling my running gear in the washing machine and get on with my life. But sadly too many people in this country can't say the same.

Thousands of people sleep on the streets on any given night

Over 250,000 people are homeless, stuck in temporary accommodation, such as hostels and bed and breakfasts

In total, 17.5 million people are impacted by the housing emergency – living in overcrowded, dangerous, unstable or unaffordable housing

  • £15 could pay for a webchat for someone facing homelessness
  • £20 could pay for a call to Shelter's helpline, which is open 365 days a year to answer calls from anyone struggling with a housing issue or homelessness
  • £80 could help pay for legal advice to help a family in crisis keep their home
  • £100 could fund four face-to-face chats with an advisor
