Update - due to getting COVID the week before the Manchester Marathon I will now complete my marathon. (With any luck) at the Chester Marathon on October 8th 2023.

I’ve always wanted to run a marathon, waiting until I was 46 to do my first one may be a little crazy! It won’t be fast or pretty but I will give it my best and hope to raise money for an amazing charity who do such important work locally.

WHAG is a charity that works in Rochdale and Cheshire West and Chester delivering services  to vulnerable homeless women , women, men and children experiencing domestic abuse and young parents As an organisation WHAG delivers high quality services to empower people to make the changes and choices that they have identified . Supporting local charities has a big impact and 100% of donations to WHAG will go to developing services and  improving the lives of WHAG clients.

40% of homeless women state domestic abuse as a contributory factor to their homelessness.

1 in 4 women in England and Wales will experience domestic abuse in her lifetime.

It takes, on average, 7 attempts before a woman is able to leave for good.

2 women a week are killed by a current or former partner in England and Wales.

41% of UK girls aged 14 to 17 in an intimate relationship experienced some form of sexual violence from their partner.   

20% of children in the UK have lived with an adult perpetrating domestic
