Tower abseil for Aberdeen Cyrenians · 10 June 2023 ·

Will you challenge yourself to abseil down the iconic Northern lights tower in aid of Aberdeen Cyrenians this June? Five thrill-seekers have the opportunity to take on the 131ft abseil to support people in need across the North East.

Story

This summer I am facing my fear of heights (eek!) and abseiling 131ft down the Northern lights tower to raise funds for Aberdeen Cyrenians.

It would be greatly appreciated for any donations and support to help this incredible charity and continue to support people in crisis.

I will have support on the day, taking (no doubt) multiple pictures which I will share with you all!

In 2022, Aberdeen Cyrenians experienced a 600% increase in referrals and a 451% increase in fuel poverty support needs.

£25 provides support, food parcels and comfort to someone in crisis

Aberdeen Cyrenians is a local, independent charity that has been tackling homelessness for over 50 years; offering a helping hand to anyone in crisis to get them back on their feet. We provide valuable support and assistance to individuals and families that are homeless or at risk of losing their home.

Starting life as a soup kitchen organised by Aberdeen University students, Aberdeen Cyrenians has worked for five decades as a pioneer in service delivery creating initiatives such as Britains first wet hostel, the first women's only residential project in Aberdeen, the first Rent Guarantee Scheme and many more.

Through our community projects and residential services in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, we help rough sleepers, couch surfers with no permanent address, people who struggle to maintain a tenancy due to mental health and addiction issues and those who flee from violence, abuse or exploitation.
