Story
On September 9th 2019, just after her 80th birthday in August, my beautiful mum, Alison, had a catastrophic stroke. It has left her in need of full-time nursing care and she now lives in a lovely nursing home. She can do very little for herself, is either in bed or in a wheelchair, and cannot communicate using speech, other than a very few words. On June 17th 2020, Alison's older sister, Jennifer, died from a stroke and 34 years earlier, in April 1987, my maternal Grandma, HeIen, also died from a stroke.
I am therefore taking part in the Royal Parks Half Marathon for #TeamStroke. There are over 1.2 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes. Stroke Association believes everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke. Your support will help them to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments. Help me raise as much as possible to help rebuild lives after stroke - thank you!
