Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

So...as some of you are aware, I was diagnosed with Skin Cancer in December 2019. I was then subsequently diagnosed with Sinus & Thyroid Cancer in 2020.

I have had the bulk of my cancer either removed via surgery or blasted with radiotherapy & I am currently undergoing Chemotherapy to get rid of the linger tentacles still clinging to the inside of my head. Pesky stuff this cancer but I am winning my battle and will hopefully finish my treatment journey on 19th May 2021 after I have my full Thyroidectomy. Fingers crossed.

Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, I've had to attend all my appointments on my own & haven't been able to lean on friends for support in the way I might have done had we not been in the middle of social distancing restrictions for the past 12 months (and counting). Having said that, I have had fantastic support from my friends & brother's when it's been possible to see them or just via weekly video calls (shout out to Team TUT) and not least of all from my dear friend, Clare Cooper.

Our friendship is one of those rare relationships that blossomed from a relatively unusual situation...and if you know us both, no explanation is needed...but what is needed is a huge thank you to Clare (& to Paul, Elodie & Sophie...my plastic family) for being my support bubble.

Clare is a Palliative Care Nurse who works for Katharine House Hospice in Stafford. Clare provides end of life care for terminal cancer patients, so she could be forgiven for wanting to put her work life to one side at the end of the day. But instead, she has always been there for me with a shoulder to whine on, to answer my questions, give me moral support, drink Gin with me & help keep my PMA.

So I have chosen Clare's workplace, Katharine House Hospice as the charity I would like to raise some money for. The work Clare & her team do is priceless yet they rely heavily on donations to continue providing care to their patients.

So in a bid to raise funds for them, I have decided I am going to walk 1,500,000 steps between 1 June - 31 August 2021 & I would be grateful for donations to encourage me to achieve my goal. Anyone that knows me, knows I'm not much into physical exercise and certainly haven't been over the past year so this will indeed be a major challenge. Plus it was obvious from my No Sugar challenge a couple of years ago, that the only way to get me to do anything out of my comfort zone is to pay me and hold me accountable!

Thanks for reading my blurb (cancer hasn't stopped me wittering on) & any donation you can afford, pennies or pounds, will be gratefully received.

 Thank you xx
