Story
Kathy has a wealth of experience as a long distance swimmer. She started in 1975 and for many years competed in various distance events around the Country, including the10.5 mile length of Lake Windermere. She became something of an expert at relay team swims in the English Channel - 16 of them to date - and was a member of the first women's team to swim around The Isle of Wight.
In 2013 she was persuaded that it was her time to excel. That year she swam from England to France, at age 53 the eighth oldest woman to do so. Not satisfied with this she went on to swim around Manhattan Island in 2015 and the length of Loch Lomond in 2016.
This year she intends to swim the Catalina Channel off the West Coast of the United States more than 20 miles in length and it will present a huge challenge but she is confident that she can conquer this swim The Catalina Channel will give her what is known in endurance swimming the Triple Crown - the English Channel, around Manhattan and the Catalina Channel.
Kathy is swimming to raise sponsorship for 'The Make A Wish Foundation', a charity that grants wishes to children and young people fighting life threatening conditions. A wish provides them with precious memories to treasure forever - whatever the future may hold.
On 26th September 2017 she will have the support of 3 people who accompanied her on all her major swims.
Kathy's day job is training RLSS Pool Lifeguards and delivering First Aid training to various companies.
If you would like to sponsor Kathy, she would be very grateful for any amount that you are able to donate.
