Matrons Madness · 2 October 2020

We help Sheffield’s hospitals, community teams, mental health and specialist services to cover costs their NHS budgets can’t. We fund support for patients and staff, life-changing research and more, so that we can enhance care from birth to the end of life and everything in between.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have an irrational fear of heights, which makes jumping out of a plan so much more challenging to me on a personal level.

There are currently around 850,000 people with dementia in the UK. This is projected to rise to 1.6 million by 2040.

225,000 will develop dementia this year, that’s one every three minutes.

1 in 6 people over the age of 80 have dementia.

70 per cent of people in care homes have dementia or severe memory problems.

There are over 42,000 people under 65 with dementia in the UK.

The Hospital charity have been amazing in their support to the needs and care of our patients in hospital with a diagnosis of Dementia. Without the Dementia appeal we would not have in post our amazing team of Dementia practitioners and the great work associate to make our Hospital a safe environment for people with dementia to visit.
