Story

In November 2021, we received the devastating news that my sister-in-law, Heather, had pancreatic cancer. Heather faced her treatment with such bravery and continued to do lovely things with her family and friends, making the most of life for as long as she possibly could.

In August 2022, Heather went into hospital and we all had to face the reality that she wouldn't be able to go home again. We were all grateful that Heather was able to move to the Marie Curie hospice in Solihull. She had a spacious room with doors that opened into a garden and, even though she had to breathe with an oxygen mask, the carers were able to move her to be outside.

The personal care Heather and her nearest loved ones received in the last five weeks of her life was amazing. We can't thank all the people involved in her care enough. Being at Marie Curie meant Heather was as comfortable as possible, had dignity, and was surrounded by loved ones until the end.

I talked to Heather about trying to get a charity place for London and we agreed raising money for Marie Curie was right. I hope any family going through the worst time, is able to have access to amazing care like that.

My beautiful, fun-loving, kind, inspirational sister-in-law, Heather, died on 23rd September 2022. I will be thinking of her as I train for this massive challenge.

I will be incredibly grateful for any donation to show your support. Thank you so much.

On April 23rd 2023, our incredible #TeamMarieCurie runners will be taking to the streets of London and running 26.2 miles in aid of Marie Curie.
