I'm really elated to announce that I have been given the opportunity to volunteer overseas with VSO on an International Citizen Service placement! I will be in Cambodia for 3 months, starting in May.

ICS works with communities that have specifically requested their help and aims to inspire young people in the UK and overseas to become active citizens who are passionate about long term development.

I will be living with a local host family and fully immersing myself into their culture. Although tourism is expanding, Cambodia is still one of the poorest countries with its economy dominated by garment making and agriculture. We will be working to improve youth economic empowerment, teaching young people and helping them become more employable. 

I need to raise a total of £800 towards the work of VSO and their ICS partners. The money raised will go towards enabling the overall costs of ICS, ensuring they can continue sending volunteers to the developing world to make a lasting difference. 

Over the next few months I will be hosting/participating in fundraising events. Any donations towards this project will be appreciated so greatly and will make a real difference, big or small as this opportunity means so much to me.
