Girlguiding Anglia is proud to be part of Girlguiding, the UK’s leading charity for girls & young women. Guiding offers girls & young women a space where they can be themselves, gain life skills & discover new opportunities whilst making a positive difference to their community & the wider world.

Story

This project involves working with children in Madagascar and living and working in a village. I'll be placed in an early childhood development centre, where I'll spend time helping village children to read, write and count. Most of the children will come from severely disadvantaged families. The accommodation will be very basic and I will be working in challenging situations. Despite this the rewards will be amazing!

At the end of 2018 I went on a county international selection weekend, not even expecting to get on a trip. I was then selected to go on the Anglia international selection weekend at Pax Lodge in London, one of the WAGGGS world centres. I met loads of new people and had an amazing time doing the activities.

A week later, I got my email telling me I got a place on the trip to Madagascar!

Thank you to all of the people who supported me on my journey so far, on the selection weekends, trips in between and family, for it has been a great influence on me.

To help with fundraising I will be creating a Madagascar themed challenge badge, holding quiz nights, designing and selling cards and craft, boot sales, baby sitting and challenging myself in walking events (more news to follow).
