Story
Firstly, thank you for taking the time to visit our page - we are extremely grateful you got this far!
Myself and Jo Jo are running the Manchester 10 km as part of the DBD team on 18th May to raise money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research (LLR).
We've done a few runs in the past but this time we want to make it a little bit... more fun?!... Well for you at least! So we have decided to run in fancy dress, yet to be confirmed - so any suggestions with your donations will be considered!
So, why are we doing this?? As some of you know, my brother died of acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) last summer, aged 27.
I don't want to harp on (yet again!) about how important it is to me personally to raise money for LLR, but I will say one thing. Over 20 years ago, children who were diagnosed with leukaemia had a terribly unfair 10% chance of surviving this horrible disease. However, through the amazing efforts of LLR in both research and fundraising, they have managed to completely turn this on its head, with up to 90% now managing to kick leukaemia's ass!
Unfortunately the same cannot be said for our own generation, and the stats continue to defeat even the most determined of sufferers.
You may think this doesn't affect you and it probably (hopefully!) never will... however 4 years ago, we thought the same thing. So at the risk of sounding like a broken record (sorry to so many who have heard this before), but we will not stop until we have beaten blood cancer.
Anything you can spare WILL make a huge difference to LLR and both myself and Jo genuinely appreciate anything you can donate :)
