Story
Myself, alongside my parents, eldest brother and his girlfriend are taking part in the help for heroes 26 miles ‘spire to spire’ trekathon. This is a tough event over the rolling downs and water-meadows between the two historic cities of Winchester and Salisbury.
As I’m sure most of you are aware, my youngest brother was injured in Afghanistan at the end of last year. Tim was part of a foot patrol with a number of other brave soldiers when an IED went off. It sadly took the life of one of them and caused serious injury to others.
Eight months on from this I have watched my brother live with the challenge of learning to walk again and deal with the pain both mentally and physically from the devastation that this day caused. It is still unknown whether he will regain feeling in his left leg, but after he’s recent operation the surgeons remain ever hopeful.
I have witnessed first-hand the magical work that Help for Heroes do. They provide direct, practical support for our wounded as well as their families. They pride themselves on their ‘money in, money out’ policy and ensure that every penny raised is spent or allocated to their cause.
So please if you can, dig deep and sponsor my family and I for this challenge, we really will appreciate every penny!
