When my Jamie comes home from work at night he tells me what he’s done that day. He may have coordinated a group of young lads who have learning disabilities, or anger management issues, or are socially isolated to clean and work on boats on Eel Pie Island. They love it. He may have arranged for people with disabilities to be joined up with volunteers who can go out with them on a regular basis to help increase their confidence and just go to the cinema or do everyday things that we all take for granted. Or he may have worked with a person who has schizophrenia and a label of personality disorder to help them fill out the myriad of forms and navigate the social housing system to prevent them from being evicted. If you have Aspergers and cannot find a job, he has been able to find you employment at the National Archives in a role that suits your interests and abilities to a tee. If you are a company that needs training on the Equalities Act, Jamie can do that for you. If you turn up to his office at 5.25 on a cold February evening and ask for some help finding a place to sleep for the night Jamie will spend the next three hours trying to find somewhere for you. Basically Jamie, and all the staff at Richmond Aid are dedicated to finding creative and sustainable ways to support people of any age, from any background, with any form of health condition to plug the gaps that have been created by this government. Jamie is my hero and Richmond Aid are a charity organisation that need contributions to continue providing these service that just aren’t available any where else. So; give me your money. Give. Me. Your. Money. Thanks. X
