Never Forget
Campaign by Chester Zoo (RCN 306077)
EEHV is a deadly virus that affects young elephants both in zoos and in the wild. 80% of elephants struck by EEHV will die. Your donations will help us fight the disease as we search for a cure.

Story

Hi everyone! Its time I set myself another challenge.

This year I have decided to complete the Baxter Loch Ness Marathon on 24th September. I am running it in aid of Chester Zoo's Never Forget campaign. This campaign aims to raise funding to support research into the elephant endotheliotropic herpes virus (EEHV). EEHV typically strikes young Asian elephants during the weaning phase and can be fatal. It affects both captive and wild elephant populations. Chester zoo has unfortunately lost their last five elephant calves to this deadly virus. Lots is still unknown about EEHV and how to treat it, so more research is vitally important. As an elephant keeper at Chester zoo EEHV is never far from my thoughts, especially with three young elephants within our herd. Please help me to make a difference and secure a future for these truly amazing animals. Every penny counts!
