I signed up for the Humber Bridge Half Marathon earlier this year for a personal challenge, not intending to complete it for charity. However, after a devastating year for our family, I have decided to try and raise some money and awareness for Hull Royal Infirmary's Neurosurgery Ward who have looked after my mum for the last six weeks and continue to do so with outstanding care. The money raised will go to The Brocklehurst Neurosurgery Fund which supports the purchasing and maintenance of much-needed research equipment and the provision of teaching facilities and educational materials for medical staff to conduct neurosurgical research in East Yorkshire.
