On Sun 20th Oct I, along with a group of other riders from Wimbledon Village Stables (WVS), will be raising money for the Royal Marsden Cancer Campaign. We shall be riding our horses around the historic Richmond Park and doing battle with the deer as we take part in the annual sponsored ride. This event has raised over £500,000 for charities and last year raised a grand total of £21, 000 which went to help fund the new children and young adult facility which the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge opened last year.

This year I will be without my beloved Emerald as she will still be in hospital, hopefully recovering from her eye problem. However the lovely owners at WVS have kindly lent me a wonderful horse so I can continue to raise some money for this amazing cause so please help me beat last years effort of £1,275.

As many of you know the Royal Marsden Cancer Campaign is a cause dear to my heart. My Mum and several close friends have been successfully treated by the Marsden and I know how wonderful the work that they do is.

Sadly not everyone who receives treatment responds to it and a few years ago one of my good friends and colleague lost her battle with cancer at the tragic age of just 31. She campaigned hard to raise money for this and other cancer charities and was always so generous with her donations so I want to make sure I do her proud and help stop other people dying needlessly.

Huge steps forward in cancer diagnosis, treatment and management are taken every day with help from charities like The Royal Marsden but they can't do this without support from amazing people like you. Cancer can be beaten but it will take a huge investment: 1 in 3 of us will get it so please do your bit and give what you can.

I know it is difficult to ask you all to dig deep at the moment, especially since I am not performing a heroic feat; however this is such a good cause I would ask you to spare what you can so we can continue to support the Royal Marsden.
