Appreciate you stopping by and if you don't mind, sparing a minute to read why i'm doing this challenge!
Statistically, we will all be affected by some form of cancer, in some way, in our lives, whether it's a loved one or ourselves. Breast Cancer is the most common cancer in the UK, with around 50,000 women and around 400 men diagnosed each year. It is thought to be caused by a combination of our genes, our lifestyles and life choices, and things in our surrounding environment.
At the age of 10 my best friend Charlotte sadly lost her lovely Mum to this horrible disease her battle ended on the 2nd May 1995.
Things have moved on a great deal since 1995. Treatment is more advanced and the survival rates have improved greatly, however, this is not enough and people everyday will lose a loved one to cancer. That means everyday someone's heart will break having to say goodbye to their Mum, Dad, Son, Daughter, Grandma, Grandad, Auntie, Uncle, Brother, Sister or just a friend.
This year will be 20 years since Charlotte lost her beautiful Mum. To mark the anniversary Charlotte wanted to do something for her and something that could raise money and have a little fun at the same time! Myself, Aurelia and Keira accepted Charlottes challenge and together we have formed our team 'Jilly's Filly's' and what (if I do say so myself) a fine bunch we are. This challenge will be a test of determination and stamina (24-30 hrs of walking with only short food stops) but with a great group of girls, a lot of training and, hopefully a bloody large glass, or maybe a bottle of wine, at the end we will DO IT!!!!
We know that almost everyday you have charities requesting a donation of some sort and each charity will say the same "it's only a £1" or "think if this affected you"...So, that being said...Go on, go on, go on!!! We'd appreciate anything you can donate, £1, £5, £10 or if you're feeling really flush £20?!!! But seriously, every little really does help to motivate us and to start beating this nasty, evil disease! Our target is £1000 as a team!
Please, please donate what you can to this fantastic charity and help 'Jilly's Filly's trot on to the finish line.
