The Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary admits & rehomes around 500 animals every year and in 2024 we rehomed an astonishing 750 animals. Since opening in 1967, we have proudly managed to help over 30,000 animals find their forever home. At any one time, we have up to 30 dogs, 60 cats and kittens and 15-20 rabbits. We also care for four goats, who are our permanent guests. We often look after 70-100 animals a day.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

The Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary is currently undergoing their biggest transformation since it was founded 51 years ago in 1967.

We’re currently building 10 new kennels to house Oxfordshire’s abandoned and most vulnerable dogs and as part of the project we need to fund the heating and lighting system for these new kennels.

This work is essential for the health and behavioural wellbeing of our dogs to make sure they await their forever home in a comfortable environment.

We’d love to invest in infrared heating and new eco-friendly, safe, robust and easily maintainable lighting in the kennels. Each kennel is also independently controllable so each environment can be as unique as our lovely dogs.

Why Infrared?
- Efficient - Cheaper to run
(Estimated to be 25% of the cost of convection heating)

- Healthier - Prevents moisture in the air and has been shown to positively affect the immune system.

- Fit & Forget – lowers maintenance costs

- Emission free

- Faster to heat up

To fund this – two of our amazing animal carers have decided to throw themselves out of a plane on Saturday 11th August 2018.… facing their biggest fear!

Please help us fund this essential work and give our dogs as close to a pets life as possible as they await their forever families.
